Peter Gott from Sillfield Farm Foods – Where it all began
Our Westmorland Food Hall started in 1999 and would not be the same without Peter Gott from Sillfield Farm Foods who created the Food Hall 25 years ago!
“I had been attending Agricultural Shows in Food Halls all over the UK – Royal Highland Show, Suffolk Show, South of England, Royal Bath & West, 3 Counties, Royal Ulster and Balmoral. I spoke to the Chief Executive at the time in 1999, he said there’s a tent so get on with it – the food hall was born!
We had 12 stalls to start with in the food hall and I remember it well, it took me 3 days to extract my fridges from the tent as it was so wet and muddy – it was a particularly wet Show.
The Food Theatre started in 2008 and each year it has become better and better. Things have come on a lot in the past 25 years but we still cant control the weather!”
