Get Crafty at Country Fest

By 8th May 2017Country Fest

Introducing Sew Crafty Handicrafts, a brand new competitive handicraft area at Country Fest with 34 fantastic classes to choose from.  If you’ve always fancied having a go at entering your crafty handiwork into a competition, this is a great way to start, or if you’ve been crafting for years, and can embroider with your eyes closed, we have plenty of classes for you to choose from!

With a view to encourage imaginative and inventive entries, as well as first time crafters, the format of the Sew Crafty Handicraft classes are slightly different from some more traditional Shows.  The classes are based on objects rather than particular mediums, so that we see a fantastic range of entries showing lots of creativity.  Have you made a beautiful special occasion bag you wish to exhibit, or a stuffed doll or animal?  How about an impressive wall hanging, or are you a dab hand at greetings cards?  Whatever your speciality, and however you wish to make it, there will be a class for you!

And for all those mini-crafters, we have 16 children’s classes, split into four age ranges.  Classes for tiny tots under 5 years old include, amongst others, a painted stone or a collage, which is a great way to show off their pre-school work!  Classes for older children include a decorated jar, create an owl, create a handmade necklace and make 1 metre of bunting, plus many others.

Primary Schools can also get involved with the Create a Scarecrow class!  Can your creative class build a freestanding scarecrow, to be displayed in the Sew Crafty Marquee?  Use any materials you like to create your scarecrow friend, the more inventive, the better! A trophy will be presented to the school with the best scarecrow.
